CD Review:Pink Martini : A Retrospective

Happened to heard a track from this album while
accompanying a friend waiting for her boyfriend last tuesday after a film screening.

Because of that track,I bought the Retrospective album.
(Buying on IMPULSE?No.I do like that album, hence I got it.)
About Pink Martini
Pink Martini has twelve musicians (and sometimes travels with string sections), and performs its multilingual repertoire on concert stages and with symphony orchestras throughout Europe, Asia, Greece, Turkey, the Middle East, Northern Africa, Australia and New Zealand and North America.

Formed in 1994,and released 5 Albums,1 seasonal album and 1 Retrospective, this band has gone around the world and music festivals performing.

About this album
This album is an album to celebrate the formation of the band 16 years ago, celebrating their hits from their first album,Sympathique to Splendor in the Grass.
Featuring 21 tracks, some of which were unreleased in their albums(mainly First Recordings, exclusive tracks and remixes)

My Take
I was attracted to the album for some of their popularized tracks like Donde Estas Yolanda? (Where are you?I'm here).I agree, some tracks were relaxing and of course some tracks were upbeat that I just simply feel like wearing a pair of dancing shoes and dance away.

This album has quite a simple aesthetic in a classy way.
A couple walking down the park, with a removable sleeve of the title.
Inside the album,a booklet containing compilation of Pink Martini's behind the scenes photos of the band, taken Pink Martini's pianist Thomas Lauderdale.

Ought to check it out.

"Pink Martini: A Retrospective is available at That CD Shop, retail price 29.90"
