Was honoured to check out the gala premiere of The Hunger Games, courtesy of Cathay Keris films.
Synopsis:
12 Districts,2 participant per district,1 Life to survive(which was changed to 2 at the later part of the story.)
Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
The Hunger Games is based on the first book of a trilogy by Suzanne Collins.
My Take:
Not another book to movie franchise after the success of Harry Potter, Lord Of The Rings, Twilight?
This film has portray the spirit of Courage in your love ones, and Sacrifice in this dog eat dog world.
Like what was mentioned,in this dog eat dog world, there are always people to be sacrificed ,so hence merciless actions were noticed by the character in the film, on the other hand,it was balanced to friendships between the competitors, working closely and ensuring that the other party is safe from harm.
From a filmmaker's perspective,I would say this is an average action,sci-fi films I have watched, with some What the Hell moments in the plot.(Hint: Don't be mistaken by the title to be merciless movie. They can be Generous too.)
The camera shakiness increases the intensity of the competition, but on the other hand, it compromised the viewers in a way.
Afterall, the ending looks great and I am sure you will enjoy it..
"The Hunger Games" opens in all major cinemas today! Go Catch it! Rated PG13.
My Rating:3/5(But that shouldn't hinder your choice,as different people, different perception.)
