Kwah Hee Special: East Meet West 2011

Under the kind Invitation from Homerun Asia,Innoform Media and Shaw Cinemas.
I was invited to catch this comedy Directed and written by Jeffrey Lau,well known for his "Mo Lei Tau"
(无厘头*) comedies

*无厘头 is a name given to a type of humour originating from Hong Kong during the late 20th century. It is a phenomenon which has grown largely from its presentation in modern film media. Its humour arises from the complex interplay of cultural subtleties significant in Hong Kong. Typical constituents of this humour include nonsensical parodiesjuxtaposition of contrasts, sudden surprises in spoken dialogue and action and improbable and deliberate anachronisms.

The Synopsis:
Ten thousand years ago, eight gods fought incessantly, not realizing that by doing so, they would be demoted into the secular world. They can only return to heaven once they can get along harmoniously. Ten thousand years later, they meet again in Guangzhou under different modern personas, not knowing they used to be gods. What unfolds is an urban romance full of jokes which can “startle the universe and move the gods”. When finally they discover that they are the gods who have been transformed into humans, they wonder why the eighth god has not appeared at all. Meanwhile, the newfound harmony is again thrown into disarray by the beginning of a love affair.

My Take:
Superhero who can Animal talk? Perhaps Dr. Dolittle can do that too...
Character whacked by a guitar? If you are a Rocker, whack a fellow band member, possible...
Arm bleed after being poked by plastic utensils? How can that be!

It's a comedy with a tinge of Romance,a tinge of familyhood and a tinge of crazy nonsensical element in it.

With a strong star studded cast of 60 including (Long time no see band) SOLER,Godfather of Mandopop Jonathan Lee and many more (just to name a few),Taiwanese Singer Van Fan
East Meet West 2011 has got me bursting into laughter while bringing me through the film with all the exaggerated movements of the character.Something to add flavor to the film.

It's one of the unbelievable feat to have a 90 minutes film with 60 star studded casts, giving a equal cameo appearances opportunity to the casts.

Simply can't forget Eason Chan's cool emotionless, and always quoting Shakespeare's words face from the beginning of the show till towards the end.

If you are a fan of  "Mou Lei Tau" comedies, got to check it out.
