Singapore Toys,Games,Comics Convention 2012

I apologizes for having to backlog my entries. Let's get to the point.

I was at one of the most happening toy,games and comic event of the year about 3 weeks back.
Clashed with CoMex 2012 this year,the top grossed electronic event of the year,hence this event was moved to Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.

Featuring a numbers of exhibitors and artists (and cosplayers) in this convention from the East and the West,and a portion from local designers.

For me,having to be at the convention these 2 days has gotten me to have a intention to do something for the independent names like Monster Little aka Ziqi from Singapore, Huskyx3 from Hong Kong.

Despite for a small venue in this year's edition, I have gotten a few exclusive launches specially for my family members and a special person,(and for myself too!)

Here are my loots.

Gotten it as a fan of the mini blocks,and they are only available exclusively in Japan,Chip and Dale are for me and My Melody is for my sis who was influenced by this insane brother who is a fan of it,(She has a cool set of collection on her table too.)

One of the first item I bought,partly because of its ultimate cuteness,but hey,it's 200 pcs worldwide!

At the end of the day,it is indeed a pleasure to attend the convention as a media,but due to space constraints,it has in a way dampened my impression from the one I last attended in 2011.
Hope to see more in 2013's edition!

Latest: Fatman Satay to cease its business in Lau Pa Sat end of this week.

Sounds unreal? Yes,it is true.

Fatman Satay,or Stall Number 1 is one of the local's most established satay stall in Singapore,probably one of the more prominent satay brands which most of us will agree with.

Was dining there with my family last night and one of the helper was explaining to us that they will cease the business at Lau Pa Sat Festival Market end of this month.

According to the helper, the aged boss will go on retirement,but the 2 other branches will still in operation,located in Somerset and Old Airport Road.

Having said so,you have about a week or so to try the most Original Fatman Satay, before they goes into history,as I believe, the branches may not taste the same as what you get at the Festival Market.

Grab the chance to taste the best satay before it's gone. I SWEAR!

Marley: The Jamaican Reggae Legend

After a long day of work,it's time for a chillout session with Bob Marley.

Yes,I caught Marley.

Bob Marley (1945-1981) is the lead Singer and Rhythm Guitarist for a rocksteady and Reggae band, Bob Marley and The Wailers.

Prior to this review, if you have plans to catch it, just be aware that this film is 2.5 hours long. 

2.5 hours documentary is pretty rare as it does make viewers ended up dozing in the theatres.

Now here's the kick.

I was intrigued by its life, how he got started and accounts of his collaborators and family members and the music which in a way made a fan out of me.

It could have made me drowned into lala-land with the monotonous voices of the accounts of his past collaborators, but to spice things up,the Socio-political issues in Jamaica has got me attracted. With the video footages of his past gigs and his act as a peacemaker in "One Love Peace Concert", joining the hands of political rivals Michael Manley and Edward Seaga.

I was amazed by the scale of influence he has because of his music,especially the hoards of supporter of Bob Marley. It has gotten me to be a new fan of his music,specially to his tunes like No Woman,No Cry, Redemption Song and a ton loads of tunes.
 
As much as I would say for a 2.5 hours long documentary,it could be a ho-hum to some people,but through the documentary you get to know more about the Rastafari movement that he is bringing in his music. For me,it's not a ho-hum,but a new experience of knowing this Reggae legend.

"Marley " has ended its run in Golden Village Cinemas for now.Do keep a lookout for the DVD version of the film.

Theatre Review... 《老九》 The Musical

To the Chinese, having a boy is like an asset to the family, as people would say Male will carry the family line. As the statement goes 男人婚后可传香火 ，女人婚后就像泼出去的水。
(No wonder my grandma still values that in the family .)

It's the Chinese belief that gave the guys a heavier responsibilities, being a capable in everything that he should be in, and do proud in the family.

Following a dream is something that everyone wants,but we cannot deny that in many parts of Asia (even in modern Singapore) there are parents who would scorn their child's attempt to be in the arts without at least a backup diploma.Though as an Arts graduate student, I can relate the objections when I took my Diploma,while having to convince my mom about the prospect of the course.
